I think they take a while to get used to because it's much easier to notice the flaws than in the face of a wolf or a hawk. We're just hardwired to know what a face look like and anything wrong with one just jumps out at us.

I don't see much wrong with this one, though! Nice work on the clothing, I always have trouble with such. If you don't mind a little crit, you might want to make the chin/jawline slightly more formed, it slopes down a little steeply.
